Service has always been at the heart of the Lane family, which makes it fitting that Barney Lane’s business philosophy as a financial advisor and founder of Lane Financial Strategies revolves around this core principal. “If you look after the client, the business will take care of itself,” says Barney.
The DeLand native and third generation owner of Lane Insurance says he’s always had a lot to live up to. His grandmother, Mrs. Arthur Lane, the founder of Lane Insurance, and his father, J. Marshall Lane, excelled in both business and civic affairs which they believed were synonymous with one another. As a result, Barney knows well that service is essential to a strong business and community. His most recent civic endeavors have included his involvement in The Athens Theatre and the Me Strong charitable organization.
Today, the impact of the Lane family’s legacy can be seen in his financial advisor practice, but in this case, Barney’s dedication to his clients is backed by more than 30 years of experience in financial services, a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Florida, and numerous certifications including the highly regarded Certified Financial Planner™ certification along with the Certified Life Underwriter®, Chartered Financial Consultant® and Retirement Income Certified Professional® certifications.
The most successful relationships are those built on mutual trust and openness, and it’s only with this understanding that he takes on a new client. “My goal is to maximize the financial planning experience of my clients by providing a holistic planning process that gives them a realistic view of their financial life as a cohesive whole,” Barney says. “We hope for the best, but plan for the worst,” he adds.
When Barney and his wife aren’t busy with the daily administration of their businesses and various civic responsibilities, they enjoy being active, specifically hiking, kayaking, biking and spending time with their two dogs, Teenie and Maddie.
